Lake Missoula Flood
The Bitterroot Valley of Montana was once under 900+ feet of water. Wave action on the ancient shorelines are still visible throughout the valley’s mountainsides. Eastern Washington state has the most unusual canyons and gullies that were formed rapidly when the Lake Missoula dam (a glacier) breached. These facts are now well established. But just 60 years ago the idea of a gigantic flood causing the Washington Scablands was ridiculed by geologists. What was it that they objected to? Why was a giant flood causing all these canyons so impossible for them to consider, even when presented with compelling field evidence?

Mount Saint Helens Erruption
8:32 A.M of May 18, 1980…
Began the 9 hour violent eruption of the previously majestic Mount Saint Helens. Because the mountain erupted northward instead of vertically, the destruction from this event was immense.
Dr. Horton has the exclusive set of slides gathered by Dr. Steve Austin that chronicle the events dramatically.
These events, that both took place in our backyard, present a tremendous challenge to the basic underlying presuppositions used to determine the age of rocks layers and thus the age of the earth. Come and see!

Life, what a remarkable miracle. Or was a remarkable chance happening? Is life and all of it’s complexity and design a freak accident, never to be repeated again?
Dr. Horton will explore the design of life on seminal levels and the arguments to how it came to be. The issue for this evening is … Information. Where did the information come from? Can information self-originate? Can complex codes that translate into detailed structures just form themselves? In 1860 Thomas Huxley successfully tromped the Creationist Archbishop Wilberforce by proving it could. His arguments are foundational to any possibility that the DNA of living being could have developed the information by sheer chance… but maybe there was a mistake!

Biography
Kevin Horton, B.A., DVM
Dr. Horton has a bachelor's degree majoring in Biology from Dickinson State College in Dickinson, ND. He received his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1981. He practiced Veterinary Medicine in the Bitterroot Valley for 20 years.
Dr. Horton retired from his medical practice in 2003 in order to give himself full time to Christian ministry. He is presently studying theology at Moody Graduate School in Chicago where he has completed 75 graduate credit hours toward a Masters of Divinity degree. He is Senior Pastor at Crossroads Christian Fellowship near Corvallis.
Dr. Horton has taught the Book of Genesis to first year Bible students at Big Sky Bible Institute. His science education along with his theology studies allow him to bring a unique view to the studies of origins.
